But if you don't have a bay window or cozy little area in your home that would be perfect for a nook / window seat, it doesn't mean you have to do without. Sometimes, you just have to make your own.
Therefore, I want to explain SIMPLE and EASY ways to create a window seat / nook area for ANY ROOM. -- without building anything!
How To Create A Window Seat / Nook:
- Find a window next to the corner of the wall (preferably), or just any window on a wall that is large enough to use for a window seat.
- Find a sturdy bookshelf that is wide in depth, but narrow in width (depending on the height of your window). Example:
- Flip it over on it's side. Put pillows or a bench cushion on top. You want it to be wide in depth so you will have room to sit on it. You want it to be narrow in width so you're not sitting 4 feet off the ground (but it also depends on the height of your window). Example:
- Option 1: Put the shelf/bench on the wall by the window and scoot it all the way to the corner. Example:
- Option 2: Put the shelf/bench on the wall by the window, and put a regular standing shelf on one or both sides of the bench for back support and to give it that "nook" feeling. Example:
- Store books, toys, games, pillows, or other things in the shelf/bench components below. You can also turn it into your own personal library collection.

- Chaise
- Short Dresser
- Bench
- Blanket Chest
- Long Coffee Table
- Several Ottomans Lined Up Together
