Halloween Super Simple

Kit Harington is magic

tháng 4 05, 2014     Alice’s Articles, Being hot is like having a superpower, lifestyle blog, pop culture, Pop Culture's new Gods, TV, TV Show, TV's Golden Age     No comments

What prompted this obvious statement you ask? Well, Game of Thronesseason 4 premiere is actually today  (April 6th) but I been waiting long time so, in between, I went to see Pompeii in an effort to deal with my Jon Snow withdrawal.

 The Starks and their wolfs!
Kit Harington being all hot and adorable! #thatface

I used to go to the movies quite often, but not so much lately! The fact that I work 12 hours a day might have something to do with it. But I made this new deal with a few of my friends that we have to go to the cinema at least once a week (already broken the deal twice, but here’s to hope).

Coming back to Pompeii, I had an amazing time. I can’t say I was too impressed with the movie, it’s not mind-blowing or anything but, boy, oh boy, was I impressed by Kit Harington's abs! If you are a Game of Thrones fan and especially a John Snow fan, you have to go see this movie. Kit and his six packs were epic.

Get it?! It's funny on so may levels! Kit Harington was actually dating Rose Leslie (the actress that embodies Ygritte in Game of Thrones) in real life, but they broke up and he's apparently single right now.
 Great visual from Pompeii!

All that I understood from the entire movie was that (SPOILER ALERT!) everyone died (which sucked, but hey, the movie is called Pompeii and we all know what happened there). Fortunately, I was too distracted by Kit and automatically went into a daydream spiral where he was my boyfriend and got over it pretty fast. I’m almost sure most of the girls in the audience had the same reaction, nothing special with me! I’m not even ashamed, that’s how hot he was in this movie!

If I think about it, I was actually a victim, subjected to that whole display of hot bodies in leather menskirts! What is a girl to do in such a situation? Also I blame Milo (aka Kit) for making that volcano erupt! Just think about it for a second - until he came to town it was all good, people were chilling, then he got into the arena, let all that steamy hotness out in the open and crazy things started to happen!

I knew I was onto something wonderful when I got my eyes on Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, but how was I to know he has all of that hidden under his winter gear. Winter be damned! At least if winter is coming, let Jon Snow be my blanket!

The writers of Game of Throneshave to pick up the pace and send John into the desert and get him shirtless ASAP. That would just throw Game of Thrones into a whole new league! The thing is, I read all the books (well, those published until now) in the A Song of Ice and Fire saga and I know that’s not going to happen, but there’s still hope, since we all know how partial to nudity HBO is!:))))

I wouldn't mind, Jon Snow! I love traveling!:)))

I need all of these Game of Thrones dolls! I've never seen anything more adorable in my life.

"If you think you can handle it" - To Adorn Feature

tháng 4 04, 2014     About Me, fashion, sponsors, To Adorn     No comments

Guess what?! My family has some super exciting news. We are moving!! After 6 years in our newlywed home, its officially up for sale! We are building a new home in a city about 30 minutes south of us - closer to my husband's work, but still close to all the areas we love. It is really really bittersweet. I love the excitement that change brings - that chance to refresh your life and build new memories. I'm definitely ready for more space and *finally* a craft room! It will be really hard to spend one last night in our home, though, and say GOODBYE. We've put everything into this home for six whole years. We haven't sold our house, yet, so until then, I am enjoying everything about our current city and life.

I have some moving tips & related posts I'm prepping to post in the next few weeks. It's seriously been CRAY. Super insane crazy. We just live in limbo between packing and temporarily moving things to my dad's home and constant CLEANING, CLEANING, CLEANING for house showings and staging. I haven't cooked dinner in over 2 weeks, Chick-Fil-A employees now think we are regulars, Ava has missed too many nap times because of showings to count, and all my craft supplies are boxed up and in the garage. So bare with me if I don't have as many crafty posts here until we get settled in our temporary home before we officially move into our new house. Do you have any moving, packing or home selling advice & tips? Have you done it before? This is my first time selling a home, so I'm all ears for advice, tips and ways to stay sane and patient during this whole process!

Last night, my little fam went for a drive to our new neighborhood, and we decided to eat dinner there to see what's it like. We tried out a sports grill and, luckily, it passed the taste test. I was just excited, because I got to wear my new chevron cardi from To Adorn. I may not have given away all my other cardigans, but seriously, this one is my new NEUTRAL. It's the Buzz Lightyear of cardigans, and all the other toys are intimidated by it's arrival. ;)  It just goes with everything!

{pardon my fuzzy photos - my camera is packed, so these are from my lovely 3 year old phone!}

I've been really impressed with the quality of everything from To Adorn. Sometimes, with other online boutique shops, I've ordered and the quality isn't good, which makes me think that's why it's so cheap. But not from To Adorn. Everything is awesome and immediately becomes a wardrobe staple {like my leggings I wear every other day!}. I love wearing it with my sequin collar shirt {Target}. You can use code ilovetoadorn for 10% off your order {click HERE}! They have more than just clothing items. Here are some of my fave boutique items {up to 80% off} that are currently available.

Normally when I'm having my husband take photos of me, it looks like this:

Which is me standing there going, "What should I do?" I feel like Ricky Bobby on Talladega Nights - unsure of "what to do with my hands."

But I figured out what I'm supposed to do - spill salad dressing all over myself! Yep. That's exactly what I did during dinner. Not even a bite in my mouth, and I spilled strawberry vinaigrette all down the front of me. Our waitress said, "I'll get you more dressing - if you think you can handle it." At least we got a good laugh out of it!

Come on - can you make strawberry dressing look that good? ;) Ha ha, so yes, this cardigan does go with everything - even your dinner.

Now, the house is crazy again with moving boxes and stuff everywhere that needs to be packed, Ava and I are about to go to Chick-Fil-A {of course}, my to-do list is a mile long, and I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed! But I'm so so grateful to have these two along with me for the ride. That Ava hug you see below is the most special thing that, every day, fills me with the most immense joy. Gosh, I love these two.

Textured with blue accents

tháng 4 02, 2014     Alice’s Articles, Alice's Outfits, fashion, fashion blog, OTD, outfit of the day, outfits, personal style     No comments

This month I went a lot bit crazy with shoes shopping. Now I’m at that point where I have no space left to store them properly. But then again, I couldn’t say no when all of them looked as good as the royal blue pumps I’m wearing with this outfit. I’m not made of stone! What I’m made of is sugar and small obsessions :)))).

In case you were wondering, I am indeed wearing an apron type dress over a normal black dress. I didn’t really have a clear idea about how I was going to wear the apron thingy when I first saw it, but that texture had me at hello. Based on the pictures, it seemed faux leather, but in reality it’s something as soft as a baby’s ass and as cool looking as black snake skin.

Last week I was nervous so I put it in a heap on my bead, besides me and watched Suits while petting it as if it was a cat and it calmed me instantly. What you might call being crazy, I like to refer as being eccentrically creative, which is the only thing I can be accused of :))). I’m also very excited to wear it with pants (the apron dress that is).

After I had the shoes on, everything else went blue - the French beret, the bracelet and even the bag which is actually the little one out of a set of two (I’m going to show you the big one in a future get up).

  I’m wearing:
apron dress, blue beret / rochie sort texturata, bereta - here
leather jacket / geaca piele - vintage
royal blue pumps / pantofi - Asos (similar here and here)
  bracelets / bratari - Romwe
necklace / colier - Zara
blue bag / geanta albastra - tbdresses

Dairy Free Magic Cookie Bars

tháng 4 02, 2014     coconut, dairy free, recipe, sweetums     No comments

Guys. I'm going to tell you a secret! Shhhhh....come in close. Closer ... Closer ... There. Stop. Ready?

I CAN'T EAT DAIRY.

Did you already know that? Maybe. And when I say "can't" I should really say "shouldn't," because I actually do eat it. But, if I eat too much, it makes me sick. Boo. It's an intolerance - not an allergy - so I justify eating it that way! Ha ha. There are several things I will cheat for:  a Wendy's frosty, ravioli and a beefy 5 layer from Taco Bell. On an every day basis, though, I don't eat it. At my house, we drink soy & almond milk, eat dairy free cheese & butter, and ice cream is replaced with sorbet. It's a pretty simple life style change, really. You get super used to it {yes, when I first tried soy milk I wanted to BARF, but it's so good now, I honestly don't remember the taste of cow's milk!}.

The hardest part about being dairy free is the lack of yummy treats. It's not that they aren't out there, it's just that I don't ever make them! I do have a Dairy Free board on Pinterest, though, loaded with scrumdiddlyumptious treats I could make dairy free {you can follow it HERE}. I've learned over the years that it's pretty simple to substitute dairy free ingredients for "normal" ones to make most recipes dairy free - and they taste about the same - if not better!

Growing up, my oldest sister would make Magic Cookie Bars, and they were seriously MY FAVE. Think coconut...chocolate...more COCONUT...more CHOCOLATE...YUM! But I've never made them in my adult years, because one MAIN ingredient is sweetened condensed milk, which is a GIANT NO NO if you can't eat dairy. UNTIL NOW! I made > homemade dairy free sweetened condensed milk < that changed the way I look at baking & desserts! These Magic Cookie Bars are 100% dairy free - and 100% DELISH.

Here is the recipe! You can right-click + SAVE + PRINT this little recipe card for quick reference. Don't forget to > PIN < as well!

Ahhhh - you guys - just seeing these photos again makes me want to make them NOW!

How to Keep the Spark Alive in your Marriage ... Guest Post by Amberly of Life with Amberly and Joe

tháng 4 01, 2014     guest post, marriage     No comments

Hey everyone, I'm Amberly! You will usually find me blogging at Life with Amberly and Joe (where Daniela is today). I love to write about finances in marriage, goals I set to be a better wife, funny moments we have as a couple and everything else marriage. My goal is to inspire other wives to make an effort every day to make their marriage the best it can be. I want everyone to know that marriage doesn't always have to be about grown up responsibilities and big life decisions, you should take time to have fun with your best friend on a daily basis!

Life with Amberly & Joe
For the past few years, I have been pursuing a degree in Family Studies. I have a passion for family and marriage relationships and the things we can do now to prevent problems further down the road. Tradition, quality time and honesty/communication are some of the biggest contributors to healthy and happy relationships in my opinion! This June, my husband and I will celebrate our three year anniversary! In a way, feel like we are still newlyweds but other times I feel like the excitement and newness of our marriage has worn off. Keeping the spark alive is important to me; I don't ever want to feel like my husband and I are just roommates, even though I do feel lazy in my marriage sometimes.

Keep the Spark Alive

Weekly Date Night - Set aside a night every week to spend quality time with your spouse. Whether you go out or do something fun at home, have a plan that's different from your daily routine. Leave your cell phone at home or in your purse for a few hours, and really pay attention to each other. Dress up a little and treat the occasion as something special. It might even start to feel like you're back in the early stages of your relationship.

Romantic Getaways - Whether it's an entire week or just a night or two, get away from your regular life responsibilities and have fun together! Try out a cute bed and breakfast in your area, and eat at a nice restaurant you normally wouldn't go to. Even just cuddling up in bed to watch a movie, or relaxing in the hot tub can be nice. You'll be amazed how much the time together will do for your relationship and how much more in love you'll feel after the getaway is over!

Tradition - It can be as simple as opening your Christmas gifts from each other before the kids get up or extravagant as a fancy dinner on the same day every year. You will always have something special that is unique to you as a couple.

Dream/Plan for the Future - I'm sure there are a lot of things you dream about for your future together. How many kids you want to have, what features you want in your house, vacations you want to take, where you want to retire, etc. You'll have goals to work toward, things to save for and more to look forward to.

Happy Marriage
How do you keep the spark alive in your marriage?
