This is "Part 2" of my previous article, Thrift Shopping 101.
If you haven't read Thrift Store 101, check it out for tips and advice when shopping at thrift stores, including what to buy and what not to buy at these stores.
Need to be persuaded to shop at thrift stores? Go to Thrift Store Shopping: What, Why, How?
Now, to the point....
Here, we will take action and stick to our money saving plan by shopping at thrift shops.
How?
Take the "One Month Challenge!" (this one is for June, but you can insert any month).
Commit to only shop at thrift shops for ONE MONTH...
I DARE YOU.
But don't buy items such as toiletries, health, undergarments, beauty, food or beverage. These are big "No-No's" according to my Thrift Store 101 article. You can also read this article to discover hundreds of things you CAN buy at thrift shops, including clothes, home decor, gift ideas, dishes, kitchen items, and more.
Are you up for the challenge?
Do it for one month. Just one month! And see the difference it makes in not only your spending habits, but also the difference in your bank account.
I can promise you this:
- You will be surprised at all the great things you can find at thrift stores for super cheap.
- You will be surprised to find most of the things you are actually LOOKING TO BUY or NEED at these stores. If you don't have time to browse around, ask the clerk for an item and they can point you in the right direction.
- You will save money in the long run.
- It is the one of the most "green" ways to shop. So "hooray" to you for caring about the environment!
- You may have to go to a couple different thrift stores to find the item you're looking for, but BE PATIENT and you will find it eventually. If it's something you need as soon as possible and absolutely can't wait, you have my permission to shop somewhere else to purchase it.
- After one month of sticking to thrift store shopping, you may be totally transformed into a forever-thrift-shopper.
- But if you still don't like it or see the difference it makes, then at least you will know that saving money isn't as important to you as you once thought it was. Because if it was important to you, you will always find a way to compromise or "deal with it."
- "If it's important to you, you will find a way. If not, there will always be an excuse." -Unknown
