Halloween Super Simple

Maternity style – a few thoughts

tháng 5 25, 2014     dream outfit, fashion, fashion blog, lifestyle blog, Sara’s Articles, shopping     No comments

As a very tall girl I have always struggled finding certain articles of clothing to fit properly: maxi dresses and maxi skirts are never long enough, pants and jeans are always shorter than I’d like,  miniskirts are too short for me, sleeves rarely go to my wrist and the list can go on and on.

High street and even designer stores generally fail to cater to the needs of niche silhouettes and heights and prefer going the safe route with the standard sizes and shapes that are going to sell and appeal to most. And even those which have tall, petite or curvy sections, don’t pay enough attention to them, so they end up being a disappointment as far as variety and design goes, especially compared with the clothes you can find in the “normal” section.

Based on some of  my friends’ experience and what I’m constantly hearing from readers, the situation is quite similar when it comes to maternity clothes. Pregnant women have a hard time finding stylish clothes specially designed for this wonderful, but equally difficult period of time in their life. They usually have to get creative and buy clothes a few sizes bigger or just give up and pretty much avoid going out during the last months of pregnancy. The few stores which do sell maternity clothes are often not what they are looking for - having an outdated and unflattering selection of clothes that’s just plain depressing.

Thankfully, there’s always online shopping and the magic of internet with its myriad possibilities. That’s how I discovered Isabella Oliver – which is probably the best maternity brand I’ve come across so far. The way I knew they were great was when I realized I had spent over an hour  browsing  through their shop and was actually considering ordering something and I’m not even pregnant, nor do I  have plans to get pregnant in the near future. But that’s the cool thing about Isabella Oliver – the clothes are designed so that you can wear them during and after pregnancy justifying the higher price tag. That, the cut and the quality of the fabrics they use make the clothes a pretty good investment.

I made quite a few collages using my favorite looks from their site to serve as visual aid and get you inspired and excited about the various ways you can dress if you happen to be pregnant or generally going in that direction!:)

I'd love to hear from those of you who know more about maternity style first hand! Don't hesitate to share your tips and favorite shopping destinations with all of us!

Super Easy Oreo Balls Recipe .. Guest Post by Mary of Eat Drink & Be Mary

tháng 5 23, 2014     guest post, recipe, sweetums     No comments

Hey y'all. I'm so excited to be taking over for Daniela today.  I'm Mary the girl behind the blog Eat Drink & Be Mary.  The place where I share the "looks" that have shaped my life, how I struggle with patience, and of course recipes I have tried and LOVE.  But enough about me, and more about what I'm super excited to share with y'all today.

Have you ever been told to bring a dessert to a party but didn't know what to bring?  Are you in love with party foods that are portion-sized and don't need any utensils or plates?  Do you love no-bake recipes?  Then I'm your girl, and I've got the recipe for you.

Super EASY, No-Bake Oreo Balls.  A recipe with three ingredients, no baking, & you end up with the YUMMIEST, bite sized party food your friends are family will love.  Seriously these are addicting, I dare you to eat one and NOT stuff your face with two or ten three more.

ONLY three ingredients?  I promise it's not to good to be true.  Oreos.  Cream Cheese.  and Melting Chocolate -- I prefer Candiquik.  I just LOVE recipes with very few ingredients.

No-Bake.  As if this recipe couldn't get any better you DON'T have to bake it.  You just mix up the crushed Oreos and the softened cream cheese.  Chill the mixture once you've rolled it into balls.  And then dip it into the melted chocolate.  Wham bam thank you ma'am.  You've just made THE easiest dessert that is perfect to take to any party, work function, or just because you are craving chocolate.

And because I love you all here's a FREE printable recipe card | download here

Well that's it folks.   I hope you enjoyed this SUPER EASY recipe.
I'd love for you to all visit me over at my blog; stop by and say hi.

A Lesson On Patience & God's Timing

Do you have any amazing plans for Memorial Day weekend? Or maybe a favorite recipe? I'll definitely be scanning Pinterest for last minute Memorial Day crafts & recipes. You can follow me HERE. My little family has been living with my dad while we are house hunting, so we've decided to go somewhere for the weekend to get some "just us" family time in. My husband's been traveling for work a lot the past month, so we have some much need family R&R coming our way. I want to stay at a hotel with a pool, so Ava can go swimming! I hope she loves the water this year as much as she did last year, but she was only 7 months the last time she went swimming...OK OK...I'm really just excited, because I bought her new swimsuits at Target months ago, just waiting for summer, so I can put her in them! Ha ha. Yep. Little girl clothes are sooooo cute - sometimes I just can't resist. :)

We will probably stay in Park City, Utah - so if you have any fave restaurants or hotel suggestions - we are super last minute planning here, so let me know! We will probably just eat food, relax in the hotel, find a LDS church in PC on Sunday to attend Sacrament Meeting, and then on Memorial Day go on a hike in Heber or Park City. There are so many beautiful places in Utah, once things settle down with our house adventures, we definitely want to get out in the world and discover them all!

You still have time to enter to win 1 of 3 $80 gift cards in our Redecorate for Spring Giveaway!!! Ahhhh I SO wish I could win this one!  >> ENTER HERE <<

Is this business enough?

tháng 5 19, 2014     Alice’s Articles, Alice's Outfits, fashion, fashion blog, OTD, outfit of the day, outfits, street style     No comments

I don’t really do business outfits – at least not in the traditional sense of the word. But I do love a great pencil skirt. The floral number I have one is possibly the best one in my closet right now – it’s high waisted, elastic, colorful and goes with everything. I have to stop myself and not wear it every single day.

And I even paired it with a shirt! But this is not the generic, white shirt that you’d usually expect in an office look. Nope – it’s the loveliest shade of see-through, baby blue with black lace details on top. I’m not even sure this get up qualifies as business attire for most, but it surely goes in that direction as far as I’m concerned. :)

The Best Italian Pasta Salad Ever!

tháng 5 19, 2014     dairy free, gluten free, recipe, summer     No comments

M is for Monday - which today is. M is also for Mmmmmmmmmmmmm - which is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this recipe. For Mother's Day last week, I was in charge of bringing a side dish. I immediately knew I needed (yes - needed) to make a pasta salad. But not just any ol' pasta salad- the best italian pasta salad EVER!

This pasta salad is more than just pasta & italian dressing - the secret is caesar dressing added in, too. It makes it creamy and light and ooooooh just amazing. It is also soooooo easy to make (especially if you get a cute boy that is conveniently married to you to chop your veggies). You basically just cook the pasta, mix in all the other ingredients and chill. That's it!

The next reason this is the BEST pasta salad EVER?! Because you can EASILY make it gluten free and dairy free! I have family that can't eat gluten and I can't shouldn't eat dairy, so I whipped up 2 batches of this pasta salad - one regular and one gluten free & dairy free. Both were A-MA-ZING. You can easily substitute other veggies {try red onion!}, or eliminate the salami to make it vegetarian.  It's like a blank canvas of deliciousness just waiting for YOU to put your own twist on it. ENJOY!

recipe adapted from All Recipes

TIPS:

* Most salad dressings are 16oz bottles - so just pour about 1/2 of each bottle in (but it's so good, you'll want to double it and use it all!)*

*Use less veggies & meat, if you want, it's all up to YOU and how much YOU want in it!*

*Get salami sliced fresh from your local deli. Ask them to slice it in the thickest setting (I got mine from Walmart and had them slice it at a "5"). That way, it's in thick chunks, instead of sandwich-thin slices.*

This would be a fab addition to an upcoming Memorial Day party or, now that the sun is out, a barbecue! Mmmmmmmm - now I want some....
